Finding Holes in Data

چکیده

Attempts are made to employ persistent homology to infer topological properties of point cloud data. Two potential approaches are introducted and briefly evaluated, both relying on Monte Carlo estimation and the program PLEX [9]. First, homology signatures are compared to a null distribution that exhibits complete spatial randomness. This can be regarded as similar to hypothesis testing with the bootstrap. The second applies permutation testing to landmark selection.

Classification and Comparison of Methods for Discovering Coverage Loss Areas in Wireless Sensor Networks

In recent years, wireless sensor networks data is taken into consideration as an ideal source, in terms of speed, accuracy and cost, in order to study the Earth's surface. One of the most important challenges in this area, is the signaling network coverage and finding holes. In recent years, wireless sensor networks data is taken into consideration as an ideal source, in terms of speed, accurac...

Using Decision Tree Induction for Discovering Holes in Data

Existing research in machine learning and data mining has been focused on finding rules or regularities among the data cases. Recently, it was shown that those associations that are missing in data may also be interesting. These missing associations are the holes or empty regions. The existing algorithm for discovering holes has a number of shortcomings. It requires each hole to contain no data...

Finding small inhomogeneities from scattering data

A new method for finding small inhomogeneities from surface scattering data is proposed and mathematically justified. The method allows one to find small holes and cracks in metallic and other objects from the observation of the acoustic field scattered by the objects.

The Scaling Limit of the Correlation of Holes on the Triangular Lattice with Periodic Boundary Conditions

Abstract. We define the correlation of holes on the triangular lattice under periodic boundary conditions and study its asymptotics as the distances between the holes grow to infinity. We prove that the joint correlation of an arbitrary collection of lattice-triangular holes of even sides satisfies, for large separations between the holes, a Coulomb law and a superposition principle that perfec...

Shape optimization of impingement and film cooling holes on a flat plate using a feedforward ANN and GA

Numerical simulations of a three-dimensional model of impingement and film cooling on a flat plate are presented and validated with the available experimental data. Four different turbulence models were utilized for simulation, in which SST  had the highest precision, resulting in less than 4% maximum error in temperature estimation. A simplified geometry with periodic boundary conditions is de...
